For three generations and almost seventy years, Green's Garage has been Miami's independent alternative to the dealership. We're not a chain and we're not a franchise. Miami's Independent Hybrid & High-Voltage Program

Most independent shops won't open a high-voltage system. They read a code, see an HV fault, and refer the car to the dealer. The ones that do take the work often solve it the expensive way: they replace the battery pack because that's where the code points.

We have an ASE L3 Light-Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist on staff. It's the advanced credential covering high-voltage system diagnosis, isolation testing, battery service and hybrid powertrain work. It's a separate qualification from ASE Master, and it's what makes this work safe to perform.

We diagnose before replacing

Many quoted pack replacements turn out to be something smaller once someone measures the system instead of trusting the code: a single weak module, a degraded 12V auxiliary battery, a blocked cooling vent, a failed coolant pump, a charging fault or a converter problem. Before you spend thousands on a battery, get it measured.

When a module has failed, we replace the module, not the pack

We operate an EV battery service table and work at module level. That means pack removal, module-by-module voltage and internal resistance measurement, component replacement, and battery management system coding. We also run dedicated POE refrigerant equipment for hybrid and EV electric A/C compressors, because cross-contamination with conventional compressor oil destroys them.

How We Work — The Diagnostic-First Method

Reading a code and replacing the most common cause works for clear-cut failures. It fails badly when the real fault sits upstream of the code.

1. Symptom interview first. Before we connect anything, we ask exactly when the problem happens, what it sounds like, what triggers it, and what's already been tried.
2. Full module scan, not a code read. We scan every module on the vehicle (engine, body, ABS, climate, gateway and, on hybrids, the high-voltage system) with bidirectional control and live data. Where a repair needs manufacturer coding, configuration or adaptation, we have factory-level software access, including BMW ICOM.
3. Scope-level physical testing. Scan data points at a system; measurement confirms the component. Our tools include:
   • A PicoScope for signal and current-ramp analysis
   • Current clamps for parasitic draw
   • Insulation and isolation testing on high-voltage systems
   • Pressure and leak-down testing
   • Smoke testing for vacuum leaks
4. Root cause, not symptom. A misfire code on cylinder four doesn't always mean cylinder four's coil. It might be a shorted injector harness, a starved timing chain tensioner, or an upstream sensor fault. We separate cause from symptom before quoting.
5. Written findings before any repair. You get the diagnosis in writing: the root cause, the evidence, what we tested and found good, and the repair options with costs. You decide what to authorize.

We don't replace parts to see whether they fix the problem. That's how cars come back, and how customers end up paying for two repairs to solve one fault.

I've been quoted a hybrid battery. Can you check it before I authorize?

Yes, and it's one of the most common reasons people call us. We measure every module individually for voltage and internal resistance, and check the 12V auxiliary battery, the cooling system and the charging electronics. Sometimes the quote is confirmed. Often the fault is a 12V battery, a blocked cooling vent, a converter, or one module rather than the whole pack. You get written findings either way.

Can you replace one module instead of the whole battery?

Often, yes. But it only makes sense when the rest of the pack is healthy. A new module in a broadly degraded pack ends up carrying the others. Do you specialize in Land Rover and Range Rover?

Yes. Land Rover and Jaguar are among our deepest specialties. That includes air suspension, supercharged V8 and Ingenium engines, electrical and parasitic drain faults, water intrusion, and P400e/P510e plug-in hybrids. We service gasoline and hybrid models; we don't take diesel Land Rovers.

Do you work on BMW and MINI?

Yes. We use BMW ICOM factory tooling with in-house module programming. We cover BMW plug-in hybrids and EVs (including the i3, i8 and X5 45e) and the common B48/B58/N63 oil and cooling failures and electrical faults. MINI shares BMW's engines and electronics, so it gets the same depth.

My car has an electrical problem nobody can find. Can you actually fix it?

This is our specialty. Intermittent faults, batteries that keep dying, and warning lights that come and go defeat most shops, because they take oscilloscope-level testing and long-duration current monitoring, not a code reader. We test circuits under real operating conditions and document the fault before recommending any part.

Will independent service void my factory warranty?

No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, independent shops can service your vehicle without voiding the factory warranty, as long as equivalent parts and procedures are used. We document everything. Active warranty repairs, recalls and goodwill claims should go through the dealer. Hybrid battery coverage runs long on most vehicles, so check your status before paying out of pocket.
