Lexus Repair & Diagnostics in Miami
Green's Garage is an independent Lexus specialist in Miami, working across the GX and LX body-on-frame SUVs, the RX, NX and UX crossovers, the ES, IS, GS and LS sedans, the LC and RC coupes, and the full Lexus Hybrid Drive range. Same family, same address, since 1957.
Lexus builds some of the most reliable vehicles sold in the United States. That reliability is real, and it is also the reason Lexus faults get misdiagnosed so often: shops that rarely see a broken Lexus reach for the generic scan tool, read one code, and replace the part it names. On a platform where the stability control, ABS, pre-collision braking and Crawl Control all read from the same wheel speed sensors, that approach produces a repair that passes the test drive and fails the following week.
Every Lexus that comes in here gets a manufacturer-level multi-module scan with live data first. The diagnosis comes before the estimate.
Lexus Hybrid Is Where Miami Gets Interesting
Miami is one of the hardest environments in the country for a hybrid battery pack. Year-round ambient heat, cars that sit in the sun rather than a garage, and short stop-and-go trips that keep the pack cycling without ever letting it cool. The RX 450h, ES 300h, NX 300h/350h, UX 250h, GS 450h, LS 500h and LC 500h all age differently here than the same car in a temperate market.
We assess hybrid battery state of health, individual block voltage spread, inverter coolant pump function, and battery cooling fan intake blockage — the last of which is the single most overlooked item on a Miami Lexus hybrid, because the intake sits inside the cabin and quietly fills with dust, pet hair, and carpet fiber until the pack starts running hot.
Declining EV range, a hybrid system warning, or fuel economy that has dropped well below where it used to be is a diagnosable condition, not an end-of-life verdict. Full detail on the Lexus hybrid diagnostics page.
Lexus Suspension in Miami — Know Which System You Actually Have
This is where most Lexus suspension money gets wasted, because three different Lexus ride-control systems get called "air suspension" by shops that have not worked on all three.
LX 570 — Active Height Control (AHC). Hydraulic, not air. Nitrogen accumulators, a hydraulic pump, and height control valves. AHC accumulators lose gas charge over time and produce a harsh, crashing ride long before any warning appears. Diagnosis requires reading system pressures with the manufacturer tool — not swapping struts.
GX 460 — Adaptive Variable Suspension with rear height control. The AVS dampers are electronically adjustable at all four corners; the rear self-leveling air system is fitted to specific trims only. A GX sitting low at the rear and a GX with a rough ride are two entirely different repairs on two different systems.
LS 460 / LS 600h — true four-corner air suspension. Air springs, compressor, height sensors. This is the Lexus that behaves like a Range Rover or an S-Class: a leaking bag makes the compressor run continuously, the compressor overheats, and the owner arrives with two failures instead of one.
RX, NX, ES, IS, GS, UX — conventional suspension. Control arm bushings, strut mounts, sway bar links, wheel bearings. Miami's UV and road surfaces pull these forward of their nominal service life.
On any height-controlled Lexus, physical corner height measurement compared against module-reported height is the first step, before a single component is condemned. A height sensor reporting a corner incorrectly makes a perfectly good system look broken, and that misdiagnosis is the most expensive routine mistake in Lexus suspension work. Lexus Faults We Diagnose in Miami
A/C not cooling — GX, LX, RX most common
The signature Miami pattern is cold at highway speed, warm at idle in traffic, which points at condenser fan output rather than refrigerant charge. Large-cabin GX and LX make it obvious first. We test fan output at Miami idle ambient, confirm refrigerant specification before anything is added, assess blend door actuators against commanded position, and check the evaporator for humidity mold. Hybrid models use an electrically driven compressor that behaves differently in EV mode than in combustion mode and needs the hybrid climate modules to assess properly. No refrigerant goes into a Lexus here without a leak assessment first. → Lexus A/C Repair & Diagnostics Miami
Oil leaks — valve covers, VVT seals, cam covers
Miami never gives a gasket a cool season to recover in. Valve cover and cam cover gaskets on the 2GR V6 (RX 350, ES 350, IS 350, GS 350) and the 1UR 4.6L V8 (GX 460, LS 460) harden and seep earlier here than mileage-based intervals predict, as do VVT actuator and solenoid O-rings. On any V-configuration engine, both banks wear at the same rate — repairing one bank and leaving the other means paying the same access labor twice within a year. We quote both. → Lexus Oil Leak Diagnosis & Repair Miami
Brakes, VSC and ABS warnings
A VSC or ABS light on a Lexus is an active safety system fault, not a maintenance reminder. Miami humidity corrodes wheel speed sensor connectors, and one corroded connector will simultaneously light VSC, ABS, pre-collision assist and Crawl Control — which looks like four failures and is one. On Lexus models fitted with the electronic parking brake, the rear caliper actuators must be retracted electronically before pads are replaced; compressing the piston by hand damages the actuator and turns a pad job into a caliper. Slide pin corrosion and brake fluid moisture absorption both run ahead of schedule in South Florida. → Lexus Brake Diagnostics & Repair Miami
Engine and drivetrain
Water pump failure on the 2GR V6 is a progressive decline rather than a sudden event, and it is the most common engine repair we perform on the RX 350 and ES 350 in Miami. Direct-injected engines — IS 350, GS 350, and later 2GR-FKS applications — accumulate intake valve carbon that produces a misfire no amount of ignition parts will fix; we borescope before recommending anything else. Timing chain tensioner noise on the 5.7L V8 in the LX 570 and the 4.6L in the GX 460 and LS 460 is assessed with cam correlation data before any teardown is discussed. → Lexus Engine Repair & Diagnostics Miami

What a Lexus Diagnostic Looks Like Here
1. History and symptom characterization. Model, generation, trim, service records, prior repair attempts, and exactly when and how the symptom appears. On hybrids, battery and inverter service history is part of the first conversation.
2. Full multi-module scan with live data. Engine, transmission, chassis, VSC/ABS, pre-collision, climate, body electronics, and hybrid system modules where fitted. Active and stored faults distinguished, live data captured, not just a code list.
3. Physical inspection directed by the scan. Corner height measured against module-reported height on height-controlled models. Borescope on direct-injection engines. Battery cooling intake and inverter coolant checked on hybrids. Each step confirms a specific finding rather than hunting.
4. Verification. Road test, pressure test, or commanded component test to prove the cause before any repair is recommended.
5. Documented findings and itemized authorization. Root cause stated specifically, full cost before work begins, nothing done without your approval.
Why Miami Lexus Owners Choose Green's Garage

Lexus Repair FAQ
Is an independent shop a real alternative to the Lexus dealer? For everything short of warranty work, yes — provided the shop has manufacturer-level scan access and actually sees enough Lexus vehicles to know the platform. We have both, and we are not working against a franchise service target.
Do you service Lexus hybrids? Yes. Battery state of health, block voltage spread, inverter cooling, electric motor performance and hybrid-specific climate and brake systems. See our Lexus hybrid page.
My RX 450h has lost EV range and fuel economy. Is the battery finished? Not necessarily, and it is worth testing before assuming. Blocked battery cooling intake, a failing cooling fan, or a single weak block can all produce those symptoms in a pack that is otherwise serviceable. Miami blocks that intake faster than almost anywhere in the country.
My LX 570 rides harshly and sits unevenly. Is that the air suspension? The LX 570 does not have air suspension. It uses Active Height Control, a hydraulic system with nitrogen accumulators. Harsh ride is usually accumulator gas loss. Any shop that quotes you air struts for an LX 570 has not diagnosed it.
How much is a Lexus diagnostic? Quoted before we start, and it depends on the complexity of the concern. An intermittent electrical fault takes longer than a single stored code with a clear symptom. You get the number up front, and a full itemized estimate before any repair is authorized.
Where are you and who do you serve? 2221 SW 32nd Ave, Miami, FL 33145 — serving Miami, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Brickell, Key Biscayne, South Miami and Pinecrest.
