An airbag (SRS) warning light means the car has turned off part or all of its airbag protection until the fault is fixed. If the light stays on after the car starts, the airbags or seat belt pretensioners may not deploy in a crash. That is a safety problem, not a cosmetic one, and it can lower the car's trade-in value.

Green's Garage, family-owned on Coral Way since 1957, tests the supplemental restraint system to find the actual cause before any part is replaced. Our team confirms the repair with you after the inspection.

Common reasons the airbag light comes on

  • Clock spring (the coiled ribbon behind the steering wheel), often with a horn or steering-wheel buttons that stop working
  • Seat occupancy / passenger presence sensor faults ("passenger airbag off" when someone is sitting there)
  • Connectors and wiring under the front seats, often after a seat was moved, removed or got wet
  • Seat belt buckle switches and pretensioner circuits
  • Crash, impact or side sensors, and stored crash data after a collision or a deployment
  • Low battery voltage or a recent battery change that left a stored fault

How we check it

  1. Scan the airbag control module and record every stored and active code.
  2. Test the circuit the code points to: clock spring, seat wiring, sensors and connectors.
  3. Show you our findings and confirm the repair before any work begins.
  4. Clear the fault after the repair and confirm the warning light stays off.

We never just clear the code and send you on your way. If a repair needs dealer-only programming, we'll tell you up front.
